DUI Driver in Hazard sends Two Children to Hospital

An accident yesterday afternoon (August 6) in Walmart parking lot in Hazard sent two children to the hospital. Hazard police say the accident happened at approximately 1:00 PM. The 35-year-old woman driver who hit the minors, Holly Combs, was arrested for DUI. Police say they found several illicit and subscription medications in the Combs’ vehicle, and that she was high when the accident happened. 

 

 

General Motors Recall Chevy and GMC Pickup Trucks

General Motors is recalling approximately 690-thousand Chevy and GMC pickups because of a possible problem with the steering. The automaker says that it is a software issue that can suddenly cause trucks to lose power, just for a second, but long enough to be dangerous, especially around low-speed turns. If you own a 2014 Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra, contact your nearest dealer to schedule a software update. 

 

 

Two Deaths in Car Crash in Bell County

Two people died in a head-on crash in Bell County on Saturday night (August 5). Kentucky State police say the wreck happened on Highway 119 at the Varilla Curve. Troopers say that 41-year-old Johnny Fields from Ajay was heading south when he collided with a car heading north, driven by 40-year old Howard Enix from Louisville. Both men died at the scene. Neither was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. 

 

 

Floyd County Sheriff's Office Looking for Woman after Unauthorized Debit Card Use

A woman used a debit card that was not her own at the Garrett Marathon Station in Floyd County a week ago. Deputies with the sheriff’s office ask for help identifying the woman who used the card on July 30. One can find her photograph on the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page. 

 

 

Motorcycle Accident near Irvine Results in Fatality

A motorcycle driver, who was injured in an accident near Irvine on Saturday afternoon (August 5), died. Police say that a motorcycle driven by 61-year-old Michael Riddell collided with a truck on Highway 52. Riddell was taken to the hospital where he later passed away. The crash was one of two accidents on Highway 52 on Saturday afternoon, which forced the road to close for several hours while the wrecks were investigated and cleared.
